Camp Descriptions

June 12-June 16: Programmer -Do you like being in charge and giving instructions? That’s what being a computer programmer involves. Join us in your first steps as a computer programmer as we learn how computers think and listen and then we will practice giving them instructions through games and storytelling. By the end of the week, we will even be able to give simple instructions to robots June 19 - June 23: Robotics -Ever had a chance to build your very own robot? Join us as we learn how robots are designed, built, and programmed. Throughout the week you’ll have the chance to build your very own robot with one of our LEGO robotics kits! You may even find yourselves in a friendly competition with your fellow campers! We have two varieties of kits that will be useful to all ages and experience levels so don’t be shy. This camp is suited for beginners and experienced builders alike! June 26 - June 30: Astronaut Adventures -Have you ever dreamed of going into space and visiting other worlds or galaxies? Join us as we take a peek at some of the many wonders of the universe. We will investigate how we explore outer space with tools like telescopes as well as how we actually go about visiting it. We’ll learn about our closest neighbors in our solar system as well as other planets that could be future homes for us! We’ll also make a special visit to the Staerkel Planetarium and have a special out-of-this-world volcano building activity! July 3 - July 7: NO CAMP July 10 - July 14: Engineering FUNdamentals -An engineer helps build our world, from bridges to robots, to your microwave. Come put your skills to the test as we build models of rockets and catapults, design bridges, and buildings, and problem-solve our way through some challenges faced by engineers every day. July 17 - July 21: Mad Scientist -Have you ever wanted to bring a dinosaur back to life, make super icky goo, or blow something up? Join us in exploring your inner mad scientist as we touch on many different ideas and experiments in science that are a little outside the normal. July 24 - July 28: Game of Numbers -What do board games, card games, and games of chance all have in common? Numbers! Join us in playing some fun games and learning how important numbers are and how they show up in everyday life -- even if you don’t notice them. You’ll get to learn a little about topics in math and statistics all while getting to play fun games with your friends! As camps meet maximum capacity any new registrations will be put on a waiting list. Please check the registration form for notes on which camps are already full.
